Kristin was born in New England. Figure skated during high school and moved to NYC when she was 18. She started undergrad at a community college, then transferred to Baruch College to study Finance. While at Baruch, she summered at UBS as a cold caller. Then, during her junior and senior year, she worked her way from a cold caller into the Analyst Program at Morgan Stanley. She joined Morgan Stanley full-time after college until the 2008 crash. At that time, she went to work at an automotive plant in Queens, NY. She worked there for two years and they sponsored her PMP Certification as well as a Certificate in Project Management from New York University. Afterwards, she joined Metlife as a Senior Consultant and helped Melife Corporate divest Metlife Bank over a 2-year period. Following the divestiture, Kristin Joined Navigant Consulting and worked on the Prudential/Hartford Merger until she was awarded a Park Fellowship in Cornell’s MBA program.
Between college and leaving for her MBA, Kristin volunteered as a mentor for first-generaton college students at New York Needs You (NYNY). She elevated her role from a mentor to a contributer on NYNY’s Young Leadership Board and joined the fundraising group for the Colon Cancer Foundaton. She continued this work on the weekends during her summer trading floor MBA internship and transitioned this volunteering into a role as an MBA Admissions Ambassador during her second year of school.
After her MBA, Kristin joined a third-generation real estate firm in Rhode Island as an Apprentice to the CEO. It was in this role that Kristin would learn how to run an organization and identify what kind of firm she wanted to create for herself. At the end of the apprenticeship, she was given the opportunity to start her own management consulting firm. Her organization, The Evelyn Group, was named after her great aunt Evelyn. “A woman” she recalls, “who ran her own business before it was normal for women to wear pants.” As a homage to Evelyn and Kristin’s entrepreneurial mother, Sisters of Evelyn (Sisters) was born. Kristin notes that she is thankful to have the experience as a third-generation female entrepreneur; however, it was also the mentors and sponsors along the way that helped open doors and create opportunities to take actions that materially impacted her path. Sisters of Evelyn will help other young female entrepreneurs find their way. Sisters will share the revenue generated from The Evelyn Group’s Management Consultancy with females who are pursuing entrepreneurship and need specialized education to reach their goals. The first class of young entrepreneurs will be selected in 2021.
In addition to growing the Consultancy and instituting a plan to give back, Kristin is helping MBA hopefuls as a consultant for the Art of Applying and she volunteers as a a start-up Subject Matter Expert with the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program.
