Seasonal Gig: Editing Specialist
We here at The Art of Applying are excited to share that we are looking to add 3 Editing Specialists to our network of talented people who help our clients succeed.
This is a remote, seasonal, independent contractor opportunity, but we strongly prefer applicants based in Texas (and Austin is even better) so that we can get together in person a few times for training, editing over lattes, and/or celebration.
Editing Specialists are eagle-eyed wordsmiths who can help our amazing clients whip their application essays and resumes into tip-top shape.
Even though we are in the business of sending people to their dream schools, we do not care about your educational background (unless you consider it an asset to this position). What we care about is the speed and quality of your editing, that you can meet deadlines (24-hour turnaround on editing assignments you accept), and that you can provide candid yet encouraging feedback.
We will happily guide you in learning what makes for a great admissions essay and an impactful resume. What you need to bring to the role is an excellent command of grammar, syntax, punctuation, a love for storytelling, and a willingness to learn.
This seasonal contract gig pays by the word, so the more quickly you edit combined with the more assignments you take on, the more your income potential. We’ll share the exact pay if you are selected to move forward in the process.
What we can share now is that if you edit as quickly as our founder does, the gig will come out to about $25.80 per hour. If you edit more slowly, it will be closer to $15 per hour.
