Forté Foundation. Forté’s site describes the organization as a “non-profit consortium of leading companies and top business schools working together to launch women into fulfilling, significant careers through access to business education, opportunities, and a community of successful women.” I’m a big supporter of Forté’s mission to support women on their MBA journey and help them find fantastic jobs. I’m grateful to say that The Art of Applying has been a partner of Forté’s for several years now. For example, I conducted a webinar on the “Power of Networking Online” for their MBA Launch Program the last two years, outlining the exact steps you should take to find, reach out to, and network with busy, influential people. I’ve also written blog posts for Forté such as my popular post “Life After a Low GMAT Score: How to Excel in Your MBA Applications.” With women on average making up 34% of MBA programs and fewer than 4% of Fortune 500 CEOs (source), Forté is a vital resource for moving women into the MBA pipeline. Inspired by Forté’s awesome work in the area of empowering women, I decided to step up to the task of helping as well. This past July, I hosted a women-only event titled “Women, Beer, and Business School” in my hometown, Austin, Texas. Over 60 women showed up to come learn about the top myths I encounter about the MBA application process from my women clients.
Our founder, Kaneisha Grayson, sharing insights into her business school experience alongside other top business school alumnae. The women-packed room in Austin, Texas!
It’s time to drastically increase women’s representation in top business schools and among corporate leaders. If you’re a woman planning to apply to an MBA (or a woman wondering if she should), be sure to check out Forté at www.fortefoundation.org. Their MBALaunch program for pre-MBA women starts early 2017, but you have to apply and be accepted to the program. The application deadlines are in mid-October.
As always, we here at The Art of Applying are happy to help any of you ladies (and gents!) apply to your dream school as well. Please share your comments and questions about our services below!
