If you’re wondering whether to take the GRE or GMAT, keep these things in mind:
- Most top business schools now accept both the GRE and GMAT. Here is an official list of business schools that accept the GRE: http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/about/mba/programs/
- Most policy schools only accept the GMAT if you are a joint degree applicant with business schools.
- Most business schools will show their admitted students profile statistics using the GMAT—but that doesn’t mean they prefer the GMAT; it just means that they want to use one number to make it easier to compare between schools.
- If you are still in college and not sure what kind of graduate program you’re going to go to (PhD vs. MBA vs. MPP), you should take the GRE because that will be accepted at all those programs.
So what will it be? Will you be taking the GRE or the GMAT and why?
