Stephany graduated from the University of Texas, Austin in 2016 with a degree in Asian Cultures and Languages, specializing in Japanese. During her time at UT, she was awarded Best All-Around Japanese Studies and Language Student by the Department of Asian Studies and inducted into the Japanese National Honor Society. After graduation, Stephany received the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan to study abroad in Taipei, Taiwan.
Stephany spent her time after returning to Texas working and translating for non-native English-speaking families in Austin, teaching Japanese privately, working as a staff team leader and virtual program administrator for a Japanese language immersion program, and writing her own young adult novel. Nowadays, she’s on the third and (hopefully!) final draft of her book and aspires to get it published in the future, along with the many other stories she has yet to put on paper. Post-pandemic, Stephany is working on expanding her community involvement by volunteering with local LGBTQIA+ and Asian American resources in Austin. When not working and writing, Stephany loves to hit the water in her kayak, cook up some chaos in the kitchen, or settle in with a good book.
