The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) will award 40 scholarships in 2016. Of the 40, 20 undergraduate ethnically diverse minority undergraduate students will receive scholarships of $2,500 each and 20 graduate students will receive scholarships of $5,000 each.
Students must be attending four-year accredited institutions in the U.S. and majoring in the fields of advertising, marketing or public relations.

Program Description:
The scholarship recipients will receive a trip to Atlanta where they will participate in career building activities. This includes a welcome dinner with a keynote speaker, two day-long career development workshops and a scholarship & donor recognition reception. During these activities, students will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals, network and gain exposure to the advertising, marketing and public relations world. TLF accepts applications from undergraduate students (current freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors ONLY) and graduate students. About LAGRANT
The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Los Angeles, was established in 1998 by Mr. Kim L. Hunter to address the lack of diversity in the advertising, marketing and public relations fields. TLF provides scholarships, career development workshops, professional development, mentors and internships to African American/Black, American Indian/Native American, Asian American/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino undergraduate and graduate students. Mission
The LAGRANT Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to increase the number of ethnic minorities in the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations by providing scholarships, career & professional development workshops, mentors and internships to African American/Black, Alaska Native/Native American, Asian American/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino undergraduate and graduate students. Our goal is to open the proverbial door for minorities by providing the necessary resources and tools not commonly available to many minorities entering the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations.
How to Apply

Graduate student applicants meeting the following criteria and completing the application will be considered for The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) scholarship in the amount of $5,000:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must be a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino or Native American/Alaska Native
- Must be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution within the U.S., carrying a total of 12 units or more per semester/quarter
- *Must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA (if you do not meet this requirement, please see the application checklist below)
- MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing or public relations
- Must have a MINIMUM OF TWO ACADEMIC SEMESTERS or ONE-YEAR left to complete his/her Master’s degree from the time the scholarship is awarded in 2016
- If chosen, the applicant MUST attend TLF’s scholarship activities to receive the scholarship. The applicant must make a one-year commitment to maintain contact with TLF to receive professional guidance and academic support
Application Checklist:
- Completed Graduate Application Form (MS Word) or Graduate Application Form (PDF)
- A reference letter from a college professor or an internship adviser
- Your current resume
- Unofficial transcripts from your college/university. If you are selected as a finalist, you must provide official transcripts
If you submit ONLY the application form, your application will NOT be considered! The deadline is February 29, 2016 5:00 pm PST. If your application is submitted after the deadline, it will not be considered.

Seeking to enhance the academic and professional development of undergraduate and graduate ethnic minority students pursuing careers in advertising, marketing and public relations, The LAGRANT Foundation provides the following programs:
Scholarships
Each year, The LAGRANT Foundation provides 15 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate ethnic minority students who are attending accredited institutions and are pursuing careers in the fields of advertising, marketing or public relations. Graduate students $5,000 each and undergraduate students receive $2,500 each.
Career & Professional Development Workshops
The LAGRANT Foundation coordinates career & professional development workshops for students in major college markets nationwide. The workshops provide students with an opportunity to speak with industry professionals about their field of interest and specialty. Students also learn more about what it takes to begin a career in advertising, marketing and public relations.
Internship & Job Placement Program
The LAGRANT Foundation provides internship and employment placement assistance to its target students. Students and recent graduates are placed at selected advertising, public relations and marketing agencies, as well as, publishing companies and communications-related businesses. Internships consist of on-going, hands-on communications experience and training for at least a three-month period. In addition to placing interns and employees at our partnering organizations, we also provide internships at The LAGRANT Foundation office to those interested in the nonprofit sector.
Mentor Program
Scholarship recipients will have a chance to partner with mentors who provide them with opportunities for experience, exposure, guidance and career development. The mentors are advertising, marketing and public relations professionals who volunteer their time every other month for one year to meet with students and provide academic and professional guidance.
